I’ve been called an onion girl…

Just looking for my Portfolio?

We have many layers to us and a lot of interests, not just one.

It's funny, but nothing sums up my personality better. I've always been this way, even growing up. I never stuck to just one thing. In High School, I was in the band, on the swim team, and in many clubs. People doubted if I could handle it all. They said something had to give.

But I just laughed and proved them wrong. I became captain of both the drumline (one of the few girls ever to do that) and the swim team. I served as senior class vice-president, joined the honors society, and was involved in the school’s leadership committee and Big Brothers Big Sisters. And that was just scratching the surface!

What is an onion girl?

I had never let life put me into a box…. until I did.

I wanted to work in college football

I grew up spending Saturdays glued to college football games with my dad. And nothing compared to the thrill of those Friday Night Lights games, where the entire town rallied behind the team. In high school, I was captain of the drumline. I became so dedicated that I took charge of coordinating when and what the band played to support the team's success.

After graduating from Cy-Fair High School in Texas, I set off for Colorado. At the University of Colorado, I found my calling working for the Sports Information Department in 2011, launching years of my life dedicated to college sports. It was the era when social media was just starting to integrate into the business landscape, sparking my interest in leveraging it for college football teams.

For the next eight years, I immersed myself in a whirlwind of travel, long days often working over 80 hours a week. I worked for three universities including my alma mater CU where I finally created and stepped into the role I had been dreaming about for years.

I spent so much time working, clawing my way up, absorbing all the information I could to run my own department one day.

But reality hit hard. Burnout and exhaustion overshadowed any sense of achievement, leaving me feeling drained and unrewarded.

I needed to find a new way.

Life After Sports

I met my husband about a year before I left CU when he saw me working 80+ hours a week with no work-life balance and told me the advice I needed to hear.

You. Deserve. Better.

I left working in sports in 2019 and started my next position with Breckenridge Brewery. Leaving sports was great for me on many levels including, my mental health, my paycheck and so much more. I had to learn to get a life and realize what I wanted to do for the next 20 years.

Fast Forward four years and two layoffs… I’m exhausted.

So now in 2024, I am betting on myself and have decided to branch out and do my own thing instead of relying on a company to make money the way I’m good at!
